NWCSG Mock Trial Event, Tuesday 3 December 2013

PL Civil Engineering are members of the North West Construction Safety Group (NWCSG), which falls under the umbrella of the North West Safety Initiative (NWSi). The NWCSG was founded in 1979 by individuals committed to promoting construction health & safety.

The group hold 10 meetings a year and currently have 120 member Companies.

The group recently held a Mock Trial at the above venue to illustrate how decisions and actions can be questioned in the criminal courts. All monies raised on the day were donated to the Groups chosen charity Cancer Research UK.

The team from PL Civil Engineering and LWP reflecting on the mornings events with a representative of Osborn Abas Hunt.

The event was well attended by over 90 individuals from Construction related companies and consultancies throughout the region. Representatives from PL Civil Engineering and Learning with Professionals (LWP) included Caroline Kearns (Managing Director), Paul Lackey (Commercial Managing Director), Trevor Lackey (Labour Manager) and Chris Bennett (Training Centre Manager).

The initial feedback from those in attendance has identified how well the event was organised and co-ordinated, helping to ensure the realism of the proceedings and involving the audience in an experience that will hopefully live with them for a significant period of time. We are sure that this will positively affect the way they think about their actions and the consequences of decisions that they make in a professional context.

Early indications are that the Mock Trial has raised in excess of £1700 for Cancer Research UK.
